Segment 1 Results & S2 Announcement

Merry Christmas!

The first week of the challenge has concluded and it certainly didn’t disappoint. With a new high of 174 total participants signed up, people were itching to get out and ride. We had over 200 attempts on S1 at Orion Oaks by midweek. Watching the top spots on the leaderboard go back and forth between both the men and women was great to watch. It was too bad that cold temps, ice and snow drifts made late-week attempts difficult and slower compared to times earlier in the week. We did have a handful of riders get out the past two days which was both impressive and hard core! Final standings on the leaderboard are locked in and we’ll post points shortly.

It’s worth noting with our influx of new riders, we’re seeing new riders from various teams, new riders altogether – and more younger riders joining the mix – all of which we love. Keep riding and keep posting photos to our Facebook page. The above photo is from Jay Jones.

For segment 2, we head over to a new FBC location in Proud Lake. Some fresh snow should make for outstanding fat bike conditions. A few quick notes:

  • Pay close attention to the segment. Doing a warm-up lap is always a good idea.
  • When riding, know that some people may be on a discovery lap, while others may be on a faster-paced lap. Please be aware of your surroundings and be courteous to varying paces.
  • Parking for Proud Lake is available on the corner of Child Lake’s Road and Dawson Road. The parking is right at the segment’s end. It’s an easy half mile ride down the gravel road to the segment start.

Good luck and Happy New Year!
