We got snow! Well not really, if you want to call it that on the last day here of S2. Nevertheless, we had an extremely popular segment at Brighton Recreation Area. Unmitigated, pure single track at a great venue yielded plenty of smiles at a new location for many. With 400+ attempts over the week, the best conditions and fastest times came Friday and Saturday with 75 guys and gals riding on Saturday, which may be a new record. Thank you to all who participated, even the couple local bandits who did the segment unofficially. 🙂
For S3, we’re still waiting for winter to enter the chat. With an upcoming week of rain and snow alongside potential freeze/thaw cycles, we’re going somewhere familiar that should handle that well – Stony Creek. However, this isn’t your usual summer Stony Creek route, as we’re venturing into new territory even the locals haven’t ridden before. A few quick notes:
- This segment will put your navigation skills to the test. Study the route and pre-ride it. “Study?!” Yep, that’s right – feels kind of like an outdoor geometry test doesn’t it?
- You will be crossing the main park road. Traffic should be light this time of year, but keep your eyes up and be cautious.
- There is a glorious building nearby with plenty of parking and heated bathrooms. The main entrance does require a parking pass, or you can ride into the park through other entries. And as always, please find the route and segment leaderboard on our schedule page.
Cheers and good luck!
