S4 Wrap & S5 Announcement

As S4 wraps up here, we had a solid week of weather and a ton of positive feedback on the segment which was great to hear. Some might argue Bloomer is best in the winter, with a clean line covering up the roots and terrain that exist most of the year. It was a tough segment overall, but it’s great how people come together in the face of a harder challenge, which we saw on FB and in the Strava comments. With just under 400 attempts, the segment itself really worked itself in as the week went on – starting with a time just under and hour, and finishing at just under 30 minutes. Dare we say the weather was a little too perfect today/Sunday, with the sun out and seemingly the warmest temps we’ve had in a couple weeks, making for softer snow and slower times later in the day.

For S5, we head to Addison Oaks. Fear not west siders, we have not forgotten about you. We will be heading your way soon, but Addison Oaks is in just too great of shape right now to pass up..

.. or should we say, the part of the fat bike loop we’re riding for S5 is in phenomenal shape – firm and fast – perhaps the best we’ve seen it. However the segment does take a challenging turn into the single track, so just be ready for it as you’re looking around at the beginning thinking, “Pure Michigan – yeah, those commercials really are true..” Because once you make the left turn into the single track, the average speed drops and the challenge pops.

Also, Wee Bean Coffee is our catchy partner for this week’s segment. Check them out if you haven’t before. Located in Lake Orion, they’ve got a plushy vibe with a stacked menu of caffeine and carbs. Great for a group run or a single stop-in before or after doing the segment.

Cheers and good luck!
