FBC ’24, Segment 1 Announcement

Here we gooo. The Michigan Fat Bike Challenge is off and running and we’ve hit a new high in numbers for registration which is exciting. S1 launches at midnight, going through Sunday, 12/24 at 6pm. You can attempt the segment as many times as you’d like with your fastest time making it onto the Strava leaderboard. We’ve got fall-like conditions currently, so plan accordingly with the upcoming weather forecast.

S1 visits a familiar location – Orion Oaks. Known for handling weather well, we’re starting off here again with the rain we’ve had/are having. If you’ve been checking out trails or following trail conditions, you know most everything else has been sketchy or unrideable (sounds familiar for Michigan, doesn’t it?). Orion Oaks is a strong location to get going and even better, their dog park helps keep the runs clean – just be courteous to runners and hikers.

You can find the route and segment files on our schedule page. Note, you can save the route and/or star the segment and it will automatically sync with your Garmin or Wahoo device. You’ll want to study the route beforehand or plan on doing a couple laps to ensure you get the navigation correct. Also remember to turn off your start and end locations being hidden within Strava, as this could result in the segment not catching for you. Note, you can just hide your start/end locations for specific areas, like your home address for example.

Any questions, let us know on our Facebook page. Post your photos, trials, tribulations, successes, failures and everything in between. Good luck!
